The Aviation Pioneer
Amelia Mary Earhart (pronunciation / ɛərhɑrt / "AIR-hart"; July 24, 1897 - missing July 2, 1937, declared dead January 5, 1939), daughter of Edwin and Amy Earhart, was an aviation pioneer, author, and American women's rights fighter States.
Earhart was the first woman to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross. He won the award because he was the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic. He also made many other records, write a book that sold most of his flying experience, and has an important role in the establishment of Ninety-Nine, an organization of women pilots.
Earhart disappeared mysteriously in the Pacific Ocean near Howland Island in an attempt to do around the world flight in 1937. Interest on life, career, and the Earhart disappearance still continues until now
