Simple Diet Tips - Invaluable Advice on Living Healthy

A simple diet plan consists of all you need in a nutshell, being your daily dose of nutrients - vitamins, minerals, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and fiber. Make a list of all the foods that are rich in these elements and make it a habit to buy these at organic food stores to make the most of natural and chemical free foods. Here's how you can get started on revamping that refrigerator and noticing the changes as you go along.

Make Water Your Best Friend
I never had a liking for drinking water and always looked for a tasty substitute like juice, which did nothing for my system and gave me temporary relief from my thirst. The purpose of drinking water is to clear out toxins in the body that accumulate over time and need to be flushed out along with our bodily wastes. It helps the body also get rid of excess built up water in the tissues, eliminating problems like water retention and bloating. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and use it as your number one choice to quench thirst. It can kill hunger pangs and help you stay satiated without the need to reach out for snacks. Drink a glass of water 10 minutes before eating everyday and notice how you easily cut down on your calorie intake.

Stack Up on Munchies
It is advisable to eat separate portions of food in a day, as opposed to the three meal diet. Two hours after breakfast and two hours before lunch, keep munchies on hand like a small bowl of nuts or a bowl of fruit. Don't stack up on salty snacks or anything with sugar. Sugar and salt have to be taken in very small doses, and not in large amounts since sugar slows down one's immune system and salt (use very little while cooking and otherwise) leads to water build up in the body.

Fiber Rich Foods
Fruits and vegetables are a great sources of fiber. Load up on these two and try to make interesting dishes out of the them - don't look at them as uninteresting food sources. Experiment with texture and flavors by combining simple ingredients to make scrumptious dishes that are on par with meat dishes. Make one meal of the day veggie/fruit based since these foods can be quite life changing to your health.

Healthy Meats
Meats that you have to be careful about are goat, beef, pork and buffalo. They contain high traces of fat and can lead to a lot of health problems related to your heart and will not leave you pleased with the increasing waistline. Switch to healthy meat options like seafood which are great sources of protein, omega fatty acids and other nutrients, along with skinless chicken, lean beef (for beef lovers) and turkey.

Dunk Junk
Your foes should be junk food in all its greasy, fatty and sugar ridden forms. Forget about eating these empty calorie foods, since they do nothing for your body and only pack on the pounds. Fruit juices in packages that aren't strictly a 100% fresh, donuts, cookies, cakes, ready to eat snacks, potato wafers, instant microwavable foods, burgers and so on are fast food alternatives that won't help you at all. If you want to indulge in your favorite foods, switch from chocolate to dark chocolate or at least cut down on your consumption amount to a single chocolate bar a week. Opt for non fat ice cream and yogurt and stay clear of preservative and additive based packaged goods and drinks. Aerated drinks are a strict no no; instead switch to all natural juice.

Metabolism Boosters
The purpose of increasing your metabolism is to help you burn fat faster and keep your system running continuously to burn what it can at a higher rate. Have drinks/eat foods that encourage one's metabolism to skyrocket like ginger, green tea, red peppers and black coffee/tea. Exercise frequently by walking at least 30 minutes a day to boost your metabolic rate. Switch from less intense workout routines to high intensity ones by alternating between the two as you workout. Don't push yourself to exercise harder and faster, since even 30 minutes of brisk walking can make a huge difference to your overall health.

Importance of Sleep
Eight hours of sleep everyday is essential, to be able to revitalize your body and reboot your system to take on the day's activities when you awake. Without adequate sleep you put your health on the line and are asking for trouble because of your bad habit of sleeping late. Get in early to bed so that you arise healthier and less fatigued before your day begins. Sleep two-three hours after your last meal post 8 pm, to avoid undigested from sitting in your stomach and bloating.

These simple diet tips should be able to revolutionize your health and your body's outward look in a matter of weeks. It takes a lot on your part to be able to put your foot down to food temptations and binging rampages, but you need to ask yourself if that is really what you want to put your body through. Have a healthy tomorrow.
