Gonorrhea

Definition  
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae that infect the lining of the urethra, cervix, rectum, throat, and the whites of the eye (conjunctiva). 

Cause  

The bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae. This bacteria can spread through the bloodstream to all parts of the body. Especially the skin and joints. In women, these bacteria can ascend to infect the genital tract and pelvis to pelvic pain and reproductive disorders. 

Symptom 

In men, symptoms occur more rapidly, ie, several days after infection. Early symptoms include discomfort in the urethra and pain when peeing and out pus from the penis.
The longer, the patient will urinate frequently and feel the urge to pee but not out of urine. Penis hole looked red and swollen. 


In women, symptoms occur within one to three weeks after infection. In fact, patients often show no symptoms for months. 


If symptoms develop, usually mild. But it has increasingly heavy and hold a desire to pee, vaginal discharge, and fever. If the infection has spread, can cause pain in various parts of the body such as the pelvis to interfere with enjoyment of sex. 


This disease can also infect the anus if the patient is the offender anal sex or anal intercourse. Patients will feel uncomfortable and out of fluid around the anus. The area around the anus will appear red and rough. Feces of the patient is often layered mucus and blood. 


Perform oral sex or sexual relationship with a patient through the mouth gonorrhea can also result in gonorrhea of ​​the throat. The infection can cause eating disorders. If the penis or vaginal fluids of infected bacteria gonorrhea of ​​the eye, there can be infection of the outer eye. Newborns can be infected with gonorrhea during the birth process until there is infection in the baby's eyes. If not treated, these infections can lead to blindness. 


Complication 

Bacteria can spread throughout the body. Infection is spread through the blood can cause red spots on the skin containing pus, fever, and joint pain, known as artitis dermatis syndrome. Not only that, can also be an infection of the heart (endocarditis) and infection of the liver wrapper (perihepatitis). 

Handling  

Gonorrhea is usually treated with injections of antibiotics by mouth or dive one week. If gonorrhea already spread through the bloodstream, the patient will usually be given antibiotics through a vein or infusion.
